Is norco analysis a reliable one? If yes then why norco analysis is not conducted even on complex cases to find the truth?

With the advancement in science and its principles, criminal investigation process is also not left behind. One such process is Narco Analysis. It is that form of scientific investigation where the information is acquired from the statement of the suspect or the accused which can be further utilized as evidence.

Even though the test is widely criticized to be against the constitution or human rights it is still being performed depending on the complexity of the cases. Narco analysis is one of the common term or a solution in the criminal investigation process but its evidentiary value is always in doubt in the court of justice. It is important to understand the procedure of Narco analysis and the evidence act in order to understand the admissibility and acceptance of the results available from Narco analysis.

The use of narcotics particularly barbiturates which is also called as truth serum (as the person responds with truth) in order to bring the person in a hypnotic state and to record the statements and information which is acquired from the suspect after a subject of queries. It is carried out only if the person is medically fit to undergo the procedure but also argued that the drugs which are to be used in the process might have possible ill effects on the person’s body which is against the human rights. Usage of drugs varies from person to person; this process is completely done under the doctor’s supervision as even a minor mistake can lead to coma or death of the person.

The person reaching a semi conscious state of mind where controlling one’s mind and imagination is highly impossible, that is when the person is interrogated to accumulate the information. This information might be helpful in collecting evidence and in further investigation. That’s the entire process but the information that is collected could not be used as a witness/evidence against the person who has undergone Narco analysis. As the statement collected is from a person who was in semi conscious state of mind hence, it is also not admissible in the court as evidence. As per Indian evidence article 20(3) a person cannot be compelled to be a witness against himself and therefore, any statement given during Narco analysis test cannot be considered as evidence in the constitutional frame work of the country.

These confessions may also include false events and the accuracy of the statement is being in doubt and hence it is not scientifically reliable. Although, it can be used as clues leading to the process of investigation.

In a lie detector test the person may choose to answer or not but in Narco analysis the person’s privacy is also being questioned which is against human rights.  Also, the confessions made in the presence of police are not admissible and acceptable until the confession is made in the presence of a magistrate. The statements if supported with subsequent discoveries may as a matter of fact be able to be presented as solid evidence.

It is also to add that the illegally or falsely obtained evidences (like Narco analysis and brain mapping) if admissible in court there are chances that the statement obtained could be against an innocent person and as per Indian legal system no innocent person should be convicted even if hundred criminals need to be surrendered hence, a person unless proved guilty is innocent.

The Narco results were proven very beneficial in Nithari case in India as crucial confessional statements were made by the accused under the effect of drug. Hence with the crimes reaching height day by day, the use of such tests are proven valuable and are sometime accepted by the court. And as far as this test is used as an aid for collecting evidence during investigation, it proves to be the backbone in few circumstances but never be there a judgment only on the basis of results acquired by Narco test as it does not amount to testimonial compulsion. It is reliable in investigation process but not enough to prove a person guilty.

Why do people like Tesla cars?

I own a Tesla. I've also crashed one. See below:

I think I'm qualified to answer. First off, I don't like my Tesla, I love it.

I originally wanted to buy a Ferrari. It's always been my dream car, ever since I was a kid. In early 2013, I was flying out to Chicago to buy a Ferrari 430 (my favorite model), and got screwed out of a deal. It was the best thing that happened to me.

A few weeks later, I was walking in Yorkdale Mall (the one with the famous Fashion Santa) and saw the Tesla store. This was back in early 2013 - Tesla (the Model S) hadn't won any major awards (later that year it went on to win Car of the Year, then later, Car & Driver called it the Car of the Century). You have to remember, that in 2013 Tesla wasn't as mainstream as it is today. It was a relatively unknown brand but I loved the lines & look of the vehicle so I decided to step into the store.

The moment I sat in the car, I immediately fell in love. I asked to take the car for a test drive, but they were hesitant and said the next test drive appointment was a few weeks out. I knew that wasn't true. I knew it was because I was very young (I was 31 at the time - I looked like I was 26-ish). They confirmed my suspicions when they mentioned the fact that they get a lot of university kids who just want to take it out for a joyride. I explained to him that I was serious about the car and told him I was ready to fly to Chicago two weeks ago and buy a Ferrari. He smiled, probably thinking I was full of it, but I was persistent. I was interested in the car. After some back and forth and convincing him I was sincere about the car, he finally grabbed the FOB key. We walked to the underground parking (where the chargers and cars are) and walked me through how the car worked: no ignition, no oil, no gas, no need to unlock the car. Just walk up to it, the handles will come out, step on the brakes and the car is on. It was FREAKY. It's like I travelled to the future. I couldn't even tell if the car was on! There was no sound, no noise, nothing.

We went out for a quick spin, he asked me to get on the highway and to floor it on the on-ramp. I did. It was exhilarating. There were no gears. The car sped up so fast, I can only compare the feeling to an airplane taking off. You don't feel changes in the transmission (because there is none); it's just this constant, unbelievable speed. Never in my life had I been in a car that fast.

When we got back to the store, I bought the car on the spot. Literally, did my configuration in 15 minutes (I picked all the options) and debated the colour with my wife for a few minutes and ordered my P85+ in pearl white, with all the options (I can fit 7 people in my Tesla - 5 adults, 2 kids in the trunk).

That's the back story of how [quickly] I bought the Tesla. I dropped $140,000+ on the car, on the spot (full transparency: I believe it was a $4K deposit, then the rest due when I picked up the car - regardless, the amount was the same - $140K+). That's how much I loved the car. Believe me, nothing on the market comes close to it.

Now, here's a summary of why it's such a great car (and this is by no means the exhaustive list of reasons, but the ones that jump out at me as I write this answer):

1. No gas. No emissions. Self explanatory. If it's good for the earth, then it's good for me.
2. Safety: It's the safest car ever created. Literally, it's the safest car, in thehistory of cars. I can attest to his. I was side-swiped by an 84 year-old man who didn't see me. I tried avoiding it but he ended up pushing me onto oncoming traffic. I hit a Dodge Caravan head on. The van was was a complete write off. Mine had primarily all cosmetic damage. Batteries were fine, motor was intact and since there's front trunk space, there was no mechanical damage. More importantly, I was okay. Since I was okay (and so was everyone else, including the 84 year old that left the scene), I giggled to myself when I saw how great the car still looked after being in a head on collision. Scroll-up for a sec and look at the pic again - looks great, doesn't it? Tesla even called me to see if I was okay and needed assistance. It's crazy - they KNOW when you've been in a major collision. I'll talk about how amazing the customer service is shortly.
3. HOV: I can't speak for the US, but in Canada, the Tesla allows me to drive in the HOV lanes. When I have to meet clients in Toronto, on average, it saves me about an hour each way. That's about 2 hours a day when I do have to commute. Numerically speaking, every hour I save, I give it a value of $500/hour - I value my spare time & time in general. Tesla gives me more time by saving it.
4. Technology is out of this world:
1. In the winter, I never go into a cold car. Right now, it's -6 degrees Celsius (that's 21 Fahrenheit). I have to head out to a meeting soon so I'm warming up the car. It's now 12.5 degrees Celsius (54 Fahrenheit). I'll wait until it gets to be at least 20 degrees before I hop in. I hate the winter - Tesla makes it a bit more tolerable.

1. If anyone somehow stole my car, I can track where they are. I can do that by using the location tab on my phone. It comes in handy when I forget where I parked (although it's not that great when you park deep underground).
2. Over the air updates: do you know how your iPhone or Android updates with new features? My car does the same thing. Since I've bought it, there have been some major updates.
1. It tells me where the nearest chargers are.
2. It'll point me to a charger if it estimates that based on my driving habits, I won't be able to make it back home (this has only happened once and it was my own fault - so it guided me to a charging station).
3. The dashboard and the user interface has been updated twice I believe (it's really really cleaner looking now).
4. They created an update where the navigation now takes you through different routes if it can save you time.
5. Before, the Google map always pointed North, which is hard to explain but it's really annoying. They fixed that so you can choose for the map to move according to where you're driving towards so you can better visualize left and right hand turns.
6. I can control almost every aspect of the car from the scroll wheels on the steering wheel. Before they made this update, I believe I could only control volume and temperature. Now I can control almost every aspect of the car.
7. There's a lot more updates that I'm missing - some may seem trivial in hindsight but when you actually see them, it's a nice surprise and delight. I love updates. My car gets better with time.
3. The Dashboard: is a whole other topic within itself but here's what I love about it:
1. No blind spots w/rear view cam: the rearview camera has a fish-eye lens. I use it when I'm driving because it's much more convenient and allows me to make sure there's no one in my blind spot.
2. Navigation: I've set up my navigation so it re-routes me through other roads when it can save me 5 minutes. If there's a traffic jam or accident, Tesla tends to take me off the highway through backroads to get me to where I need to be quicker.
3. Charging: you can set it so the car only charges in the middle of the night when electricity is cheaper
4. Slacker & TuneIn Radio: I never noticed the quality of Internet radio versus regular radio and I don't use the radio anymore. I find the exact stations I would normally listen to through TuneIn radio - the quality is just night and day. It's all free too!
5. Web Browser: everyone is usually blown away at this feature. I rarely ever use it, but it is a nice to have. I personally think it's overrated.

#5 Customer Service: I can go on and on about this one.

1. It's impeccable. Any issue I had with the car (big or small), they fixed it immediately. If it was an emergency (ie. my FOB stopped working in a random parking lot), they showed up in less than 2 hours. They're that fast. That good. That awesome.
2. Since I'm extremely busy, I got their ranger service. That means if I need service, they'll come to my house, pick up the car, take it to their shop and leave a Tesla behind for me to use. It's probably the #1 thing I love the most - anything that saves me time.
3. I wish I took a picture yesterday - they came to my house and installed my winter tires. The best part: it was free. For those who are skeptical, here's the bill (I couldn't screenshot the full thing):

There's a lot more I'm missing out. I'm really short on time but when I have some more free time, I'll continue to update this answer.

1. Innovation: I just finished reading the Elon Musk book (I highly recommend it btw), and I didn't factor in how truly ahead of the game they are. And it all comes from the top (Elon). Here's what I mean:
1. When they were building and working on the Model S, the iPad wasn't released yet. They CREATED the technology that allowed them to have a 17" touch screen in a vehicle - something that didn't exist when they were building the first model. If I can guess, that was back in 2010 or 2011. The iPad touchscreen simply didn't exist, especially in a larger size and certainly not in vehicles. They were about 4-5 inches (max). Tesla was thinking of the future (just like Apple was with the tablet). Crazy. What that means is that they're thinking of solutions to problems and innovating for concepts that are so ahead of their time. The engineering talent that Tesla has is insane. Elon Musk has a phenomenal army of talent, guided by him, a guy that is nothing short of a perfectionist. "Either you do it perfect, or don't do it at all" is one of the quotes from the book. That's the type of mentality he has.
2. A perfect example is the engineering achievement that they earned with the Falcon doors on the Model X. Most people don't realize how complex and difficult it is to build that. Why? Because they're not just doors that open up like a DeLorean - they have sensors that scan the surrounding areas to see if there are cars or obstructions in the way so the angle in which the doors open adjust accordingly. You can read more about it here. It's an easy concept to grasp, difficult to make a reality. But Tesla did it. Not because it looks cool, but because it's practical.
3. Tesla's approach to building cars isn't that they're building a car. It's a product. Anyone in the tech industry will tell you, when you build software or a product, you're always improving it. Always. It never stops, it mutates, you get feedback from customers, you iterate and your perfect. No other auto manufacturer in the world has this mentality of being agile. They are so dependent on external suppliers, Tesla owns their software, they are able to make changes to the vehicle and the experience by updating code versus releasing a new model all together. I personally see them as a technology/innovation company that happens to focus on building cars. Their methods of building cars are well known in the tech industry, but not in the auto industry.
4. Autopilot & P85D: I will confess that I wasn't a happy camper when the following year, they released the P85D Model and Autopilot. Selfishly speaking, I wasn't happy because I didn't have it. :( All I had to do was wait an extra year. But then I realized a few things:
1. No one needs that much power/acceleration. The P85+ model is just as fast as some Ferraris and it's scary how quickly you can fly. I never ever floor the car - it's so dangerous, it's borderline unnecessary unless you take your car out to the track (which I don't). To then go 0-60 in 1 second faster (3.1 seconds), is just ludicrous. No wonder they gave it that name (albeit a tribute to Spaceballs).
2. Autopilot: Most people don't realize this, but Tesla doesn't actually make the autopilot themselves. I'm sure there are components and parts related to it that they own, but it's actually a company called Mobileye.Anyhow, from my understanding and reading on it, it works extremely well. The autopilot is tied into something called machine learning, where the car improves by itself. The more people that have it, the better the autopilot gets. Here's what this means: I'm driving on the highway, I have the autopilot turned on, and I notice the car isn't staying inside the lanes because the lanes aren't clearly marked. So you have to tug the wheel a little bit to keep it within the lanes. What this means is, the car will get the information that was processed on where you were driving (latitude & longitude), it will take the patterns from the road and merge that with the motion that you had to make to keep the car within the lane, and then train the system to say: "hey autopilot, if this ever happens again, when someone's either in this exact area or an area that has similar road markings that aren't clearly marked, you should turn the wheel slightly to the left and follow the same pattern as the car ahead of you." I'm really really simplifying the complexity behind it, but I hope you get the picture. The future of autopilot and a lot of other industries will be artificial intelligence (machine learning is a sub-field from AI).
2. Free Gas! Well, not really.  But it's the same concept.  All Tesla owners get free electricity (to charge their Tesla) at over 585 locations. It's amazing.  Imagine buying a car and being able to have free gas for long road trips.  That's one of the many things I love about the company.  Although I've never driven extreme distances where I needed to use one, from what I understand, to charge the car to 80%, it takes 30 minutes.  As a reference:
1. You're not supposed to charge the car to 100% on a daily basis (it's always 80%, then you can adjust to 100% when you need the extra juice)
2. Tesla claims that 80% is enough to get you to your next charging station

How did you meet the love of your life?

Year 2000 and I moved to a new locality. Instantly I fell in love with it. It was so refreshing to see the neighborhood guys playing cricket and the huge playground they had to play. As generally we don’t find grounds to play in my city. The crowded shops, the video game joints, pani-puri stalls, my new locality had it all.

I then met the girl, the girl without the dragon tattoo:  A cute and bubbly girl with short hair held using a hair band; all her crooked teeth braced together to make it even prettier, her animated eyes when she smiles could make any heart melt.

There was something about her that made others instantly forgive and forget all the troubles she caused. Imagine a fourth grade girl walking up to the vegetable vendor and asking him to give her a tomato to eat and telling him that,” I will not pay for it. And if you don’t give it for free, god will poke your eyes” A girl, who has the nerve to break a television, a girl who can walk up to a guy and challenge him for a bicycle race. She is a definitely one of a kind. The day she asked me for a cycle race I had a feeling that I would be friends with her. Strangely, I never took the initiative to talk to her (probably didn’t have the balls). Now back to the bicycle race, I started the race well before time, as irony has it, that was the first and last time she has ever chased me. Though, I must say that I was never interested in girls due to my shy and studious nature. I was so innocent that the only chemistry I knew was between chemical elements and not opposite sexes. If ISO audits the behavior of guys, I would be taken as the benchmark.

We started spending time together and with every passing day we grew closer. The friendship bloomed with time and so did her dad’s business. Sadly for me, they shifted to a better locality far away from my home. Then for the first time in my life, I knew how hard it is to fill the void created by a person, when they leave. But time is the best medicine. Though the first few months were boring as hell, the memories faded with time and I had forgotten her completely. At least, that’s what I thought though. A few years passed by and my life had changed a lot, personality included. I was not the same shy boy anymore. I was turning confident or arrogant, or you may call it, I started having an opinion.

The guy who said ’two people meant to be together, will be together ‘, is a genius. And boom she was back, this time I had to use a new set of adjectives to draw a mental picture. Beautiful and classy rather than cute and bubbly. The adolescence wave had hit her too, the talkative and naughty girl was now a silent and shy person. I so loved the changed demeanor and so did the other guys (guys if you ever do it again, I will find you and kill you).

The only reason I still respect the board exams is that she shifted to her relative’s place to prepare for it. So boom, she became my neighbor again. Though I have turned arrogant, showing attitude towards girls is a sin *winks, pretty girls* and moreover I was genuinely excited. So as soon as I met her, I gave a nice wide smile. She gave me a surprised and disgusted look and walked away. My male ego was badly hurt, visible bruises zero, internal bruises hard to count. I promised myself that I will never ever and ever again smile at her. And you would definitely know that arrogant people can be very adamant too, my determination level was on a life time high. Few weeks passed by and it was very awkward even when we met accidentally. I avoided looking at her and tried my best to show her that I am avoiding her. Few days passed by and all of a sudden, I heard a sweet voice calling out my name. Involuntarily, I knew it was her. She waved and asked if she could borrow my newspaper. My shameless hand responded and I obliged like a dog. I broke my promise to my own self (‘shame shame puppy shame, all the monkeys know your name’ one part of me was teasing the other part). This newspaper borrowing became a routine, not that I was complaining. I was enjoying it even. After a few weeks a tiny smile and a dangerous blush accompanied the routine. Though I didn’t have any feelings for her, any guy would have few minor heart attacks if a pretty girl smiles.

Moreover my mom always warned me that,” Even if girls fall in love but they will study, but guys wont. You are already 65% and if you fall in love, gone baby gone.” But before my mind can process any of this, heart started its betrayal (God used china made processor for mind, but snapdragon processor for heart). Within a span of few weeks, I developed the blushing syndrome too. The only job I had was to wait for her to come and collect the newspaper. I am probably one of the best newspaper delivery boys that the world has never seen. Now we started exchanging smiles and glances, nuclear fission will be put to shame in comparison to the number of reactions that were taking place inside me every single time she smiled.

After a year I walked up close to talk to her, I gave her a year’s so that she can be comfortable, as you already know I knew no fear. Okay, I never got the courage, she spoke to me. She asked me if I could fill in her scrap book. And I wrote, ‘the things that I love are cars, bikes and you’. I felt so complete, I thought my job was done. And I was confident that she would call me to tell me that even she is in love. My city looked greener, the sky bluer, everything was so perfect. But breaking hearts is easier than peeling the skin of a banana for girls. She didn’t call and she didn’t even bother to smile. But I got a text from her and it read ‘hello brother’ (Sad emoticon + Crying emoticon + Angry emoticon = my face). Animated movies show that heart breaks perfectly in the middle, into two equal halves. But in reality, it looks like pieces of Lays after Mr.Inzamam Ul Haq had sat on it.

But when you are even close to a person as awesome as me you are bound to fall in love. Ha I know you cannot throw tomatoes and eggs on me while reading a blog. But the process of making a girl understand your love and to convince her that life is going to be perfect ever after is a tough job indeed. All I can stay is it takes time and it is worth the wait. And when it happens, she attains full power, you will never regret giving her the key to the crazy ride called life. Because that what makes you complete. She becomes your second mother, first critic and primary banker. That girl doesn’t have to have a perfect ass, doesn’t have to look like a model, doesn’t have to be a fashion icon, and doesn’t have to pose like a duck. All she has to do is just turn up and your arteries will start its job. Even scuba diving or racing doesn’t provide you the equivalent amount of rush that a single eye contact from girl you love could. She will walk into your life for sure. When she does hold on tight, like you would hold on to a branch of a tree if you know that if you leave it, you will die. Because, in the good times you can have fun with anyone, but in the bad times you can have fun with only ‘THE ONE’.

What is the best advice your mother ever gave you?

It was year 2008 and I was about to  appear in class XII board exams. My mother ( I used to call her Maa) was terminally ill and was diagnosed with cancer in its last stage. I had my 1st paper on 1st march, 2008 and a day before this exam my Maa had high fever. We all thought it was a normal seasonal fever and she took some basic medicines. At the same night, she was very sick and could not breathe properly and was feeling restlessness. So, at around 2:00 am my papa (father) was about to take her to the hospital. Since I had my exam on the same day and my Maa knew  if I'm tensed I would not study and screw the exam up, so she told "Beta, jab bhi meri yaad aaye, tab padhai karna."

Translation: "Whenever you miss me, You read something."

This was the last conversation between my Maa and me. On the very morning she expired due to multiple organ failure. But my papa later told me that her last words were "Tell my daughter to go and take the exam."

According to me, this was the best advice I could ever get from anyone. If I miss her, I read.

She is the most beautiful lady I have ever seen in my life.
